How Is Loan EMI Calculated? (With Example)
EMI means Equated Monthly Instalment. It is the fixed amount you pay every month until the loan is fully repaid. On a reducing balance loan, interest is charged only on the part of the loan you still owe. So the interest part of each EMI goes down over time and the principal part goes up.
Some loans use a flat interest rate instead. Our healthcare loan uses a flat rate. The healthcare loan page explains how that is calculated.
